Variations:
Mocha Frosting:
Prepare butter cream frosting adding 1/4 C cocoa to the powdered sugar and 1/2 Tsp instant coffee powder dissolved in the cream.
Chocolate Frosting:
Prepare butter cream frosting adding 2, 1-oz squaresunsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled with the vanilla.
Orange or Lemon Frosting:
Prepare butter cream frosting, creaming 2 tsp grated orange peel or 1/2 tsp grated lemon peel with the butter. Substitute orange or lemon juice for the cream.
Butter Cream Frosting

6 Tbsp Butter
4 3/4 C confectioners sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
Light Cream (or milk)
Cream butter; gradually add about half the sugar, blending well. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the remaining sugar. Add enough cream to make desired spreading consistency.
