6 - 8 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
3/4 C sugar
1/4 C cornstarch
1 tsp cinnamon
1 double crust 9"pie shell
Mix apples, sugar, cornstarch, and spices together and pour into bottom pie shell. Top with second crust and seal edges by cutting crust 1 inch away from the edge of the pan and folding both edges under together. Flute edges with fingers. Brush crust with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Cut vent holes in crust in any pattern you choose.
Bake at 400* for 1 hour. If crust is browning too quickly lower oven temperature to 350* for any remaining time.
Note: To freeze pie mix put all ingredients except crust into a zipper freezer bag and remove all air. Thaw before putting into crust, bake as above.
Apple Cider Pie Alternative (this gives the pie more sauce)
Mix 1 C apple Cider with 6 Tbsp Corn starch and sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a sauce pan and bring to a boil until sauce thickens. Pour over the apples in the pie shell and continue as above.
